Magnetic Island Travellers Hideaway

Location

Magnetic Island is only a 25 minute ferry trip (8 km) away from Townsville, the capital of Tropical North Queensland in Australia. Maggie Island, as the locals call the Island, is a beautiful holiday destination with a residential population of just about 2500. It is a very special place because the Island is totally within World Heritage Marine Park . Some of the best beaches and most picturesque bays in Queensland are found on the Island.

More than half of the Island is National Park , its huge granite boulders and towering hoop pines dominate the mountainous skyline. Magnetic Island has a rugged national beauty and many different kinds of wildlife such as Koalas, rock wallabies, possums and a wide variety of tropical birdlife. With an average of 320 fine sunny days per year, it's the perfect weather to enjoy the Islands beauty and relaxed friendly atmosphere .

How to get here

As soon as you arrive on the Island, just walk to the front of the ferry terminal building, there's a white public bus going to Picnic Bay. Just tell the bus driver that you're staying with us and you will receive a half price return trip , which is only 2 dollars . The bus will drop you off right in front of our hostel.
